For the following, we assume that you know how to play Scrabble.
How to start and play a game of Scrabble with ProScrabble
-
Press Ctrl+N (or go to Game->New game)
- Select the language settings (letters+dictionary),
the game time and the number of players. From the table, select the
players type(human or computers), and for the computer players select
the level(1-easy, 5-hard). Choose the Random start option if you want
to start the game with a random order. After that press OK
- If the current player is a computer than it
will play automaticaly. Sit back and wait for his move for a couple of
seconds.
- If it's your turn, the down rack is displaying your
current letters. Drag & drop any letter to the table or to the rack
to change the letters order. If you want to undo a letter from the
table, click on it. If you want to undo all your letters, right click
on the table. If you're done double click somewhere on the table, or
press Move to confirm. If you can't move just press Pass/Change button
and select your letters from the dialog box.
- Go back to step 3) and repeat until the game is over
- The final score and adjustments are displayed.
How to import your own word list
- Go to Tools->Conversion
- Select your text word list in the Source field
- Select a name for the Destination dictionary
- Change the author if you want
- Press Start and wait until it's finished. After that you can select your own dictionary when a new game is started.
How to search for a word in dictionary
- Press Ctrl+D
- Select Simple search or Advanced search or Anagrams
- Type in your pattern right to the Word to find.
- Limit the number of displayed results in the View field
- Press Enter. The results will appear in the dialog table
What are the dictionary search pattern
ProScrabble is using a regular expression engine to search for a specified pattern.
- Use letters for any desired letters in the word (like HUMAN which can result in HUMAN)
- Use '?' for any unknown letter, (like H?MAN which can result in HUMAN)
- Use '*' for any unknown letter(s), (like HU* which can result in HUN, or HUMAN, or HUNGRY)
- Use '{' and '}' for a set of letters, (like H{UI}MAN, which can result is HUMAN or HIMAN)
- Use '&' for a complete word, (like HU&, which can result in HUMAN)
- Use any combination of the above
